Our room, our rules

If you're looking for the rules for the discussion page, click here.

Every wiki has a rule policy that every user is expected to follow. We want this wiki to be a brilliant place for all users that contribute here. Therefore, you will learn about these rules. They should be used to avoid being blocked from this wiki. This includes rule-breakers.

Please note that failure to follow the rules will result in warning(s), and if you ignore them, you may be blocked for a certain amount of time, based on how severe the offence is. Repeated or critical offences may result in your account being permanently blocked. You can learn more about warnings here.

All of the Wiki's rules

A list of what is allowed and what is not.

Be careful! Some users will get blocked without warnings!

Rule Description Example(s) Punishment
You have to be at least 13 years old if you want to edit/use FANDOM. A user always must be at least 13 if they want to use FANDOM. This is part of FANDOM's terms of use. N/A If we find your age to be 12 or under, you will be blocked until your birthday comes. Or worse, we can contact FANDOM to block your account.
You may NOT solicit the age of a user. You are forbidden to ask for the age of a user, let alone insisting on knowing it as this is against FANDOM policy. You can ask elsewhere if allowed, but not on FANDOM servers. How old are you?

What age are you? It is mandatory for me to know.

We may post a warning on your message wall, and then block you if you continue to do so after you have been warned.
No unacceptable avatars. Your avatar can be used to represent what you are, what you like, etc. However, we prohibit having any inappropriate avatars, like those with swear words. If you are a Horrid Henry character, you can pick one of the characters to be your avatar. Since the avatar is public to everyone on FANDOM, the block will last permanently. This block will last until you change your avatar to something acceptable.
No badge farming. Badge farming is when you make a lot of extremely small and unneeded edits, just to get badges. This is used to permanently damage or destroy the leaderboard. Adding a few characters at a time when editing to clog up the page history.

Adding many categories and/or pictures, and then undoing these edits many times.

We may post a warning on your message wall about badge farming ({{Badge farming warning}}) if we don't know whether you are actually badge farming or not. If you deliberately make edits for the sakes of badge farming, you may be blocked indefinitely without warning. The block will be permanent so that all the badges can be removed and never appear again. It will also fix the wiki's leaderboard so that it can run smoothly.
No swearing. Swearing is when you call people unacceptable names. Calling users an F-word and stuff like that are banned. However, mild profanities such as hell and heck are fine to yourself, but not to other users. 'F*** you, b****!'

'Why the hell did you revert my edit, f***in user?'

Depending on the severity, the block will last for 1-2 weeks or more. Before a block is given, a warning is given first. If this is repeated, this may result in a permanent block.
No vandalism. Vandalism is when you ruin pages. Removing content, putting spam, and adding untrue or inappropriate information are all types of vandalism. Putting unacceptable words and spam.

Removing all content.

When an admin or another user sees your vandalism, they will immediately revert your edit. This punishment will vary depending on how much vandalism you put. First warnings, then to at least a twelve-hour block. However, if you make an account solely to vandalize our wiki (known as a vandalism-only account), you may be blocked indefinitely, sometimes without warnings.
No rudeness. Rudeness is when you argue against each other, swear, or talk about inappropriate things such as grounding. 'Revert your edit, or I will kill you immediately!'

'You are a f***in user.'

'You are grounded for 1 year!'

Depending on the rudeness and severity, you will get a warning, then to at least a 1-2 week block.
No harassment. Harassment is annoying someone. You just put messages over and over again, making them annoyed. However, harassment can also mean aggressive pressure or intimidation. Putting messages on an admin's message wall x5.

OMG, can you just stop? x3

Depending on how much you harass them, you'll get at least a 1-2 week block after a warning.
No opinions on pages. Opinions are only allowed on comments. If a user sees your comment on the page, that edit will be reverted. 'Henry needs to get punished' on the Horrid Henry page. This will range from warnings at first, then to at least a day block.
No advertisements. Advertisements are when you link users to another page. They can either be linked to see their stuff or to a page that is not in the wiki. 'Check out my video!' that links to YouTube. Your advertisements will be removed and you will get warnings at first. After that, blocks for at least several days.
No edit wars. Edit wars are when two users are reverting their edits just because they disagree with their edits. In this case, they're reverting edits over and over and arguing about who likes the page version. When someone reverts your bad edit and you un-revert it, just to keep it vandalized. You will both get warnings, followed by at least a week block, depending on how many reverts are there.
No untrue (incorrect) or vandal (spam) categories. The categories must be correct so that this wiki can be thriving well. Untrue categories are when you add incorrect categories. Vandal categories are when you add categories to vandalize a page. The 'Cute' category on the Horrid Henry page. For untrue categories: You will get a warning, followed by at least a day block.

For vandal categories: You will get a warning, followed by at least a two-week block.

No false information. True information is when the information is similar to Horrid Henry. False information is wrong episode number, wrong name, etc. Changing the episode number to 1 even though it's truly 20. If an admin or another user sees this, it will be reverted. Depending on the severity, a three-day block or higher is to be given after a warning.
You must have an acceptable username. Acceptable usernames are usernames that do not meet the following criteria:
  • Swear words
  • Rude words
  • Offensive username
  • Misleading username
Having a username that looks like you're playing something (e.g. Nick Playz Roblox). This block will not be given unless it's an unacceptable username, in which it will be a permanent one.
Rename a page if there's a mistake. Renaming pages are OK if you're correcting an error. But, you can't rename them to something misleading or offensive, and you also can't rename a page that has an unacceptable title. Correcting a spelling mistake from the title. If you're renaming a page that is not for correcting an error:
  1. Your rename is going to be reverted, and
  2. The redirect page will be deleted or marked for deletion.

First warnings, then to at least a week block depending on the severity.

Add pictures that are part of Horrid Henry. Pictures relating to Horrid Henry are photos that are part of it. Examples are title cards, characters, and animation errors. Make sure they're correct if you're adding one onto a page. The title card on the 'Horrid Henry's Winter Wish' page. If an admin or another user sees your photo not part of Horrid Henry, that'll count as spam/vandalism, and it will be removed and deleted. The punishment will vary on how many spam/vandalism pictures you add. First warnings, then to at least a three-day block.
Don't sockpuppet to get around a block. Sockpuppeting is when you create an alternate account to get around a block. This is not allowed for every wiki. Using an account that has a similar username to your main one to continue vandalizing pages. The sockpuppet account will be permanently banned instantly, and your block will be extended, unless the expiry time is permanent.
No impersonating. Impersonation is when you copy someone's username but add, remove, or replace some characters and/or copy their avatar/bio to pretend to be someone. Copying someone's username with an O but replacing that character with a 0. The account that impersonates someone will be blocked permanently and instantly, with NO CHANCE OF APPEALING.
Please keep our wiki consistent. Use straight quotation marks/apostrophes. Keeping our wiki consistent is a great idea to deal with text inconsistencies. If you find curly quotation marks/apostrophes, please change them to straight. N/A There is no penalty for minor changes from straight to curly. However, if you do it too many times (say: 5+ times), you'll be given a warning. A possible block (ranging from 1 day to 1 month ) can be given if you continue doing it after your warning.
No pages that are off-topic, useless, vandalism, etc. Adding pages are OK if it is missing. But, you can't add them that are considered to be off-topic, useless, vandalism, etc. Adding a wanted page. Wanted pages are links that lead to non-existing ones. If you're adding off-topic, useless, vandalism, etc. pages, a warning is given first. If continued, this will result in at least a three-day block depending on the severity.
No unofficial content. This is an official wiki. This wiki allows only official content, but the Horrid Henry Fanon Wiki allows fanon content. Anything mixed up between official and fanon content is not allowed. N/A The block will range from at least three days to permanent, depending on the severity or how much fanon content is added to the official wiki.

Administrator blocking guidelines

Vandalism

For vandalism levels, look at the guideline below and give the user a block as shown in this vandalism level. First, give him/her a warning before giving him/her a block. For accounts identified as vandalism-only, no warning is required.

Vandalism level Block length
Very minor, but not enough to be considered as a vandal No block
Very minor 12 hours (recommended) or 1 day
Minor 1-3 days
Somewhat minor 3 days - 1 week
Moderate 1-2 weeks
Somewhat serious 2 weeks - 1 month
Serious 1-3 months
Very serious 3-6 months
Severe 6 months - 1 year
Critical/vandalism-only >1 year or (vandalism-only) infinite

Unacceptable avatars

If a user is subject to have an unacceptable avatar, give the user an infinite block, as it is published to the entire FANDOM network. Remember to disable the autoblock because only the avatar is unacceptable, not the entire user (unless it has an unacceptable profile pic and also breaks the rules).

If a user changes their profile pic to something better, you can then unblock the affected user if possible.

Rudeness/swearing

For the first time a user is being rude to/swearing at a user, give him/her a warning.

If this is repeated, a 1-2 week block or more is appropriate.

For users being rude/swearing at to more than one user, give him/her a 1-6 month block.

For users being rude/swearing at to more than one user repeatedly, give him/her 1+ years or an infinite block.

Harassment

For the first time someone harasses another user, give the harasser a warning.

For repeated instances with 2-4 similar messages or mild harassment, give the user a 1-2 week block.

For many similar messages (5-7) or serious harassment, give the user a 1-3 month block.

For critical harassment (for example, 8+ similar messages), give the user a year or infinite block.

Opinions on pages

For the first time a user puts opinions on a page, give the user a warning.

Repeated instances after a warning will result in a day block or higher.

For opinions on a few pages (around 3-6), give the user a week block or higher.

For opinions on many pages, give the user 1+ years or an infinite block.

Advertisements

The first time a user puts advertisements on one page, give him/her a warning.

If this is repeated, a three-day block or higher is appropriate.

For advertisements on multiple pages, immediately give the user a 1-month block or higher.

Edit wars

Note: The page that has been edit warred may be temporarily protected on sight.

For the first time two users are edit warring, give them a warning.

If this is repeated, a week block or more is appropriate. This depends on how many invalid reverts there are.

Inappropriate categories

Inappropriate categories are categories that don't fit the page. It can be untrue or vandal categories.

Untrue (incorrect) categories

For incorrect categories, give the user a warning or a question about the untrue category.

For repeated incidents, give the user at least a day block.

If a user is subject to add many untrue categories, a two-week block or higher should be given.

Vandal categories

Note: Vandal categories are categories that are even worse than untrue categories, as they are not only inappropriate, but also are used to vandalize pages. For example, categories with swear words are vandal ones.

For vandal categories, give the user a warning about the vandal category.

For repeated incidents, give the user at least a two-week block.

If a user is subject to add many vandal categories, immediately give the user a year or infinite block.

False information

If a user is subject to change true info to false ones or add false info, give him/her at least a three-day block only if the warnings given are proven to be ineffective to stop their disruptive behaviour. If there are multiple incidents (i.e. 3+), give the user a week to month block.

If the offence is severe, at least a three-month block is appropriate. If the offence is critical, give the user at least a year block.

Unacceptable usernames

Any unacceptable usernames are usernames that contain swear words or are offensive and/or misleading. If you see this, give the user an infinite block. Remember to disable the autoblock because only the username is unacceptable, not the editor unless the editor has an unacceptable name and also breaks the rules.

Inappropriate renames

For renames that are used to vandalize the wiki, give the user a warning first. For repeated inappropriate renames, give the user at least a week block.

Users who rename pages to something unacceptable contain swear words or they are offensive or misleading. If the user renames something unacceptable such as 'Fuck this page', give the user at least a 3-month block.

Incorrect pictures

For spam/vandalism pictures, give the user a warning. A three-day block is appropriate for repeated instances.

For users putting many (say: 5-10) spam/vandalism pictures, a three-month block or higher is appropriate.

For users putting many, many (say: >10) spam/vandalism pictures, give the user an infinite block.

Adding pages

For the first time that a user adds off-topic, useless, vandalism, etc. pages, give him/her a warning. For repeated instances, give the user at least a 3-day block.

Fanon content

For the first time that a user adds fanon content, give him/her a warning. For repeated instances, give the user at least a 3-day block.

Other things we do in the wiki

  • Any images and videos that are not in use will be deleted on sight. The same goes for spam/vandalism ones. This means that if you're planning to use the image or video, make sure it is posted on at least one page.
  • Any pages in the Candidates for deletion category will be deleted on sight. The same goes for spam/vandalism, obsolete, off-topic, and unwanted pages.
  • Any redirects from the vandalism pagemove will be deleted immediately. To admins: try to avoid leaving the redirect from the vandalism pagemove behind when reverting the title of the page.
  • If the redirect page points to the page that you're going to move, that will be considered as a double redirect if you leave one behind. To prevent this, we delete the second redirect, or change the target of the first or second one. Because of this, try not to leave the redirect behind when the first one points to the old title page. Then, change the link of the first one to point to the appropriate page.
  • Duplicate and unavailable videos will be deleted. This means once the video is unavailable, remove it, or if you're an admin, delete it. If the video is duplicated, it will be deleted.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What happens if I break a rule? - If you break a rule, you'll receive a warning given by an admin or another user. If you ignore the warning and continue the offence, you may be blocked for a certain amount of time, based on the severity.
  • I saw a user breaking the rules, but I'm not an admin. What can I do? - If you see a user breaking the rules, then report it to one of the admins.
  • When do users get permanently blocked? - We permanently block users if they are badge farming, if they ignore their warnings and continue from what they are doing, if they have an unacceptable username/profile pic, if they impersonate a user, or if they use a sockpuppet account to get around a block.
  • I am less than 13 years old. Will I be blocked? - No admin of this community should, unless they see your age under 13, but the FANDOM Staff might if they find out your age is under 13. If they see that, they'll disable your account.

FAQ About Administrators

  • How do I become an administrator? - You will need to edit frequently and all edits are to be made in good faith. If you have a large edit count and you're in the wiki for a short time, you'll have a higher chance of becoming an admin. You can learn more about admins here.
  • Why do I need to reach 1000 edits to become an admin here? - We only use this goal so that you can become an admin here. We know you are trustworthy, but you need a lot of edits.
  • Can I ask to become an admin? - Yes, but your request will be declined if you have less than 1000 edits.
  • How do users get demoted from their admin rights? - We only demote admins if they've been inactive for a while, or if they're abusing their admin rights. We also demote them per request by message wall and/or blog.
  • How active do I have to be when I'm an admin? - You'll need to be active reasonably. Rollback bad-faith edits (such as vandalism), block rule-breakers, and other things to keep the wiki growing. Currently, if you're inactive for at least 3 months, that will violate the inactivity policy, and you'll lose admin rights.
  • How are admins created and how often? - Every bit of detail can be found here.
